Jobs For Students

Base GameUniversity Life

Update Log:

With three ‘degrees’ out, and a fourth in development, I thought it was time I released the first Opportunity Pack!

With the Simbridge University program, I intend to release several ‘packs’ of opportunities for your University students to enjoy. The first in the series is “Jobs for Students”.

There are 20 opportunities in the pack, giving the ability for your students to earn money while completing their studies. These work like skill opportunities; so you can have one running alongside any opportunities for the degree.

This mod requires Late Night, University Life and Island Paradise to work as intended. The majority of the opportunities are base game compatible, however.
This mod also requires the Check For Work In Rabbitholes mod by Gamefreak130. The mod allows you to search for opportunities at any rabbithole in the game and this is the only way you will find these opportunities. They will not come through the phone. Instead, you can find them on any rabbithole by selecting ‘Check For Work’.

The Events

May I Take Your Order? – The local restaurant is hiring waiters and waitresses for a large party they’re hosting. The manager has offered the job to several students at the University and {0.SimFirstName}’s name was selected. It’s a paid job of course, and the money would come in handy.

A Survey In Time – The Business School is looking for students to fill out surveys. They’re in need of opinions and are willing to pay the participants a relatively decent amount for their thoughts. {0.SimFirstName} can create the future and get paid for {M0.his}{F0.her} opinion.

A Survey In Time: Part Two – Since {0.SimFirstName} gave such excellent feedback the last time {M0.he}{F0.she} participated in surveys, the Business School is interested in {M0.his}{F0.her} opinions again. {M0.He}{F0.She} should fill out some surveys online, from the comfort of {M0.his}{F0.her} dorm room and get paid for the effort.

Penny For Your Thoughts – A new online platform, SimTutor, has just started up and is hiring tutors for a variety of skills and subjects to help the teens of the town do well in their forthcoming exams. {0.SimFirstName} should settle down at {M0.his}{F0.her} computer and tutor for some money. (24 an hour)

Say Cheese! – The local supermarket has some new produce in and needs photographs taken to put up on the website. {0.SimFirstName} should head over to the supermarket at {M0.his}{F0.her} own convenience. All that’s required is some photography skill and a camera or smartphone!

Proofreading – The Business School is interested in hiring some of the students for proofreading articles for the university magazine, the website and on behalf of resorts, shops and other businesses in the local community. All {0.SimFirstName} needs to do is settle down in front of {M0.his}{F0.her} laptop and proofread away!

Test Subject – A local game development company has brought out a new game and wants students from the university to help by testing it out before it is released to the masses. If {0.SimFirstName} gets down to the nerd hangout within the next week, {M0.he}{F0.she} would be paid for the privilege.

EdTech – The university is setting up a new interactive website, EdTech and are looking for geniuses who are keen to help set up difficult maths questions. A bit of computing knowledge would be handy. If {0.SimFirstName} were to improve {M0.his}{F0.her} logic skills, {M0.he}{F0.she} could sit back at {M0.his}{F0.her} laptop and set up the questions on the website in development.

Keep It Fit – A new product is soon to be launched, called the Keep It Fit. The device times how long a Sim has worked out for and could prove valuable for many fitness and sports fanatics. The company are looking for testers of the device before they start a proper advertising campaign. {0.SimFirstName} should go jogging with the device, then take the findings back to the stadium to give a report. Independently

The Education Fair – The University is getting a booth together for the annual Education Fair, hosted at the Administration centre. They’re looking for students of the University to apply as sales representatives, to answer questions at the booth. {0.SimFirstName} would simply need to show up on Saturday and spend the afternoon at the fair and be paid for it.

Teaching Simlish – Simlish is a universal language with many varieties and dialects cropping up as the years go by. With such a diverse language comes the need to teach the many variants to foreign sims. {0.SimFirstName} could become a Simlish Tutor! All {M0.he}{F0.she} needs to do is sit back at the laptop and follow the pre-planned lessons for a bit of extra cash.

VIP Hospitality – A popular event management company, Timely Events, is looking for students to fill out roles as part-time waiters, bar staff and porters for a large variety of events across the town. To apply, simply head over to the Administration centre to sign up and wait for the job offers.

Wait Over Here – Timely Events have organised a dinner party at the city hall and are looking for waiters and waitresses to help out. No previous experience necessary but a smile is essential at all times. The event is on Saturday evening and {0.SimFirstName} will be well paid. (Must complete VIP Hospitality)

A Pint, Please – An event organised by Timely Events is looking for a bartender for the afternoon at the stadium. Some experience with mixing drinks is required and {0.SimFirstName}’s name has cropped up. {M0.He}{F0.She} should go to the Stadium on Friday afternoon for a few hours to tend the bar. (Must complete VIP Hospitality)

Empty Glasses – There’s a drinks party at the Administration centre tonight and Timely Events are looking for drinks staff to top up glasses and serve drinks to the guests. It’s quite an important event for the benefactors of the University and therefore manners and smiles are a must. (Must complete VIP Hospitality).

Digital Media Internship – DM Communications is a media based company looking for student content writers. Applicants would be well-paid and would be expected to cover local events and keep a blog up to date, as well as meet musicians, celebrities and more. Applications are accepted at the Administration Centre.

Digital Media: Concert – As a content writer for DM Communications, {0.SimFirstName} has been asked to go to a concert at the local theatre and write a blog post about it on {M0.his}{F0.her} smartphone. (Must complete DM Internship)

Digital Media: Backstage – A local band, Redirection, are performing at the weekend in the town and DM communications want {0.SimFirstName} to meet with the band and interview them, then write up a blog post, both on the smartphone.

Digital Media: Movie Making – Filming for a new movie centred around a University has begun and {0.SimFirstName} has been asked to visit three different filming locations to interview some of the actors before uploading a blog post on {M0.his}{F0.her} smartphone.

Events Management ‘Degree’ Career

Base GameWorld Adventures University Life

Managing events can be a time-consuming task but it does open a Sim up to a whole new world. From weddings to charity fundraisers, anniversaries to retirement parties, an event planner would have a range of styles and events to work with. A degree in Events Management could be the ticket to a new world, if you’ll let it.

Update Log:
– 9th July, 2020 ~ Added Dutch translation

The next in the series of ‘degree’ careers is the Events Management Degree. This degree is a Bachelor’s Degree and therefore has 3 levels. For a sim to enroll, they need 1 level in both Social Networking and Charisma and can enroll at the School of Business. It requires the University Expansion and World Adventures expansion packs. For more information of the fake degrees, please visit the Deans Office.

This ‘degree’ career requires the Nraas Careers mod in order for it to show up.

Each level has 5 opportunities available for the student to participate in. The Events Management degree participates in the Live Events Project which is a three-part opportunity set with one opportunity per level.

The degree promotes into the Event Planner although the career is not compulsory. If your Sim graduates with a BA in Events Management, they can promote into level 6 of the Event Planner career.

I’m currently unable to add expansion pack items as career or opportunity rewards so I’ve made the University Diploma plaque from the Uni expansion buyable for §0. It can be hung on the wall and requires the University Expansion Pack.

There are no uniforms set. I recommend visiting the University Essentials page for a list of recommended mods to enhance the experience.
