Base Game University Life

A degree in Accounting and Finance can open up a wealth of opportunities for the academically minded Sim. From a logical mind to a career in Accounting, the possibilities are limitless for the Sim dedicated enough to complete the Masters program.

The first of the ‘degree’ careers is the Accounting and Finance Degree. This degree is a Master’s Degree and therefore has 4 levels. For a sim to enrol, they need 1 level in both Logic and Charisma and can enrol at the School of Business. It requires the University Expansion pack. This ‘degree’ career requires the Nraas Careers mod in order for it to show up.

Each level has 5 opportunities available for the student to participate in. The Accounting and Finance degree participates in the University Business Challenge which is a four-part opportunity set with one opportunity per level.

The degree promotes into the Accountant Career although the career is not compulsory. If your Sim graduates with a BA in Accounting and Finance, they can promote into level 6 of the Accountant career. If your sim graduates with an MA in Accounting and Finance, they can promote into level 8 of the Accountant Career.

I’m currently unable to add expansion pack items as careers or opportunity rewards so I’ve made the University Diploma plaque from the Uni expansion buyable for §0. It can be hung on the wall and requires the University Expansion Pack.

There are no uniforms set. I recommend visiting the University Essentials page for a list of recommended mods to enhance the experience.

The Levels

Bachelor’s Year One: Accounting: The Nature of Management. This first year of the degree will cover a range of subjects relating to financing and how to budget, business law and a range of other financial topics. This is only the beginning of the course and the start of {0.SimName}’s potential career as an Accountant.
Hours: 10.00am – 1.00pm
Pay: 0/hour
Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

Bachelor’s Year Two: Management Accounting. {0.SimName} has entered the second year of the BA degree and is so far doing well. The course gets tougher but there are more and more extracurricular activities to help out with academic performance and experience towards a career in Accounting and Finance.
Hours: 12.00pm – 3.00pm
Pay: 0/hour
Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

Bachelor’s Year Three: International Financial Management. The last year of the Accounting and Finance Bachelor’s degree is finally upon {0.SimName}. At this level, {0.SimFirstName} could choose to graduate with a BA in Accounting and Finance and go in as a Senior Accountant in the Accountant career. Alternatively, more hard work is on the way in the form of the Master’s degree. Some foreign travel is involved for the ambitious Sim.
Hours: 9.00am – 12.00pm
Pay: 0/hour
Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

Master’s Year One: There are many more skills beyond the limitations of the Master’s degree and this year, {0.SimName} will explore countless tomes of academic literature in this largely research-based course. Once completed, {0.SimFirstName} will graduate with an MA in Accounting and Finance and can go directly in as a Division Controller in the Accounting Career.
Hours: 10.00am – 2.00pm
Pay: 0/hour
Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

    This looks so well-designed! Thank you for doing all this hard work. I love the sounds of this course, and also the others you have in the works. I’m also looking forward to seeing your own game play, to get a sense of how everything fits together.

    I also just wanted to ask, although these degrees are not normally available in the university world, would they be if one were to use Nraas Traveler to send sims to Sims Uni, and then set ‘treat as vacation’ (in the Traveler’ options) to false (which should allow sims to have normal jobs)?

      Hi,
      how does the graduating work? I had my sim finish his Bachelor (he promoted to Master lvl 1). Now I had him quit the degree and join your accountant career. He is lvl 1 in the career, not 6. Should graduation be something that actually somehow happens and was the quitting the wrong way to go? Thank you for your advice 🙂

        Hi there Marie!
        When he was at the last level of his Bachelor, he should have received a ‘Graduation’ opportunity which would have allowed him to go to his graduation.
        After that, you get the sim to join the Accountant career instead of quitting – that way the transfer carries over correctly. 🙂
        To solve that, you can get him back into the ‘Degree’ and as long as he’s at Bachelor Level 3, you can simply join the Accountant career – no quitting necessary! 🙂

    Hi! I tried getting your degrees to work, but sadly couldn’t 😦 Do you have any advice for me? I have Nraas Career and the rabbithole rugs, which work as they should as far as I can tell. I have saved & exited and rechecked multiple times and still nothing new on the rabbitholes Science & Business School. Am I missing something? Thanks 🙂

        Have you put down the Business School rabbithole in that game session? Because they, like custom careers, don’t show up until you’ve saved, quit and reloaded the game.

        I have saved, quit, and reloaded. I am now able to “Enroll in Accounting & Finance”. However, the icon for the action appears in the upper left hand corner but nothing seems to happen when the action is completed.

        Glad to hear you can enrol. Hmm, that’s a weird one though, not had that. Nothing shows up on your sim’s job panel? Sometimes it takes a little while to happen. Does your sim exit the building once the action has completed, and the icon goes away?

    i have the art building in my home town and have the mod downloaded but there is no enroll opportunity when going to the art school rabbit hole
